Byron Bay International Film Festival

In 2015, the Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF) celebrates its ninth year over 10 glorious days across 5 venues from Friday 6 March to Sunday 15 March. Now Australia’s largest regional film festival, AACTA Awards accredited BBFF is a platform for outstanding independent film talent, showcasing a uniquely rich and diverse program of entertaining, inspiring and thought provoking films.

It’s a festival that fuses artistry, education and innovation, enhancing our worldview and collective social dialogue through the power and storytelling of film. In 2014 BBFF provided attendees with the opportunity to see 145 brilliant films never before aired on our shores and screened over 220 films from 36 countries with a program comprised of feature films, documentaries, animation and short films that support and celebrate local and international cinema.

The hub of the Festival is found at Byron Community Centre, Jonson St, with screenings in the Theatre and workshops in the conference rooms.

BBFF Byron locations are the Palace Cinema, and the Pighouse Flicks [Arts Factory].

The Festival has recently expanded its venues to include Theatres in Lismore, Ballina and Murwillumbah.

Gala red carpet events are held on the Opening and Closing Nights, which often include well known actors and directors.
